How to install resource packs for Minecraft with PolyMC 7.1
Or, texture packs. However you wanna call them.
I assume you already have a resource pack you want to install, and if you don't, then find one on
some places like resourcepack.net, modrinth, or CurseForge.
If you're here because you wanna X-Ray, let me make it easy for you too :)
The most standard X-Ray resource pack is probably X-Ray Ultimate.
Just for the sake of this, I'll be using this pack for version 26.2. Not as if I
actually X-Ray or something...
The generic resourcepack.net boilerplate instructions say you need OptiFine for uh resource packs?
But resource packs are not code mods so you don't need a mod loader for resource packs...
Though, if you do want to get advanced, the best mod loader to pair with X-Ray packs is probably Fabric or Quilt. Just go with Fabric if you want to get Sodium to improve FPS and chunk rendering which would pair perfectly with an X-Ray pack.
Other things that would pair great are Gamma Utils / Glowing Ores / Fullbright sort of mods.
But for now, let's stick to just the texture pack itself.
I'll get X-ray (or Xray I guess, Filmjolk) Ultimate from
CurseForge. I would generally avoid resourcepack.net if I can, 'cause it's just a shit site.
Get le pack
Open PolyMC, and if you haven't yet, create an instance.
On the right side, press "Edit Instance" -> "Resource packs"
-> "Add"
And uh... Add it.
Then, get in a server or something, do ESC and press Options... -> Resource Packs....
Then select it, and press Done. And then you're done. It should be just fine without any mods imo.
It's as easy as that. But not getting caught X-Raying? Well, that's on you. Figure it out.
