How to cheat in The Witcher 3 + Cheatsheet
The part on how to find the general.ini file is for Steam users.
Open the game's files
Open Steam, right-click on The Witcher 3, and select "Manage" -> "Browse local files".
Or if you're on like Linux or something and only have a file manager without a
.desktop file by default, and it doesn't open like that, such as
ranger... You would need to go to the directory manually.
On Linux, that'd be .local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/The Witcher 3/
So, do cd .local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/The\ Witcher\ 3/ or go there with your
bum ass TUI file manager.
Find general.ini
Navigate to bin/ -> config/ -> base/
And there would be general.ini. Edit it with whatever you want, such as your bum ass
GUI text editor or something.
As I was writing this, I realized I could've just said you can open
.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/The Witcher 3/bin/config/base/general.inifrom your terminal with your preferred text editor, likenano, to get togeneral.iniwith as little hassle as possible.
Edit general.ini
Once you've opened general.ini, add the following line at the very bottom of the file
exactly like this:
DBGConsoleOn=true
Then save it, and maybe close it... If you want to...
Launch the game & try some commands
Once you're in the game, press the Tilde key (~), or F2
to drop down the developer console.
- god
...You can guess that it makes you immortal. - addmoney(
amount)
Gives you whatever amount of Crowns you specified. - levelup
Advances you to the next level. - setlevel(
number)
Sets you to whichever level you wanna be. - healme
Fully restores your health. - additem('
item_code')
additem('item_code',amount) For more than 1 item.
Spawns that weapon, armor piece, or whatever other items into your inventory.
A list of item codes is not provided here.
There's more to list out, like some for Gwent & teleporting, but this is probably 99% of what you actually need to casually play the game and still appreciate it.
These commands are the same for both the Classic version & the latest, Remastered version. But the remaster has new item codes for stuff like new armor sets and typo fixes for the Gwent commands. Just research the item codes on your own.
